The UAPC is to provide a central resource of expertise in mouse models of cardiovascular disease and high-end phenotyping facilities. Many of the resources necessary for phenotyping are expensive and may be unreasonable for a single lab to purchase. A primary goal of the UAPC is to provide access to such state-of-the-art equipment at a reasonable cost, allowing it to be accessible by all. In addition, our experience in small animal microsurgical techniques and complicated modalities of phenotyping provide a substantial resource for obtaining consistent and quality physiologic data that is comparable across studies, without the need to train and re-train individual lab members. In order to make UAPC services widely accessible, every effort has been made to reduce costs without sacrificing quality and many of our services are offered at costs typically 30-50% lower than similar phenotyping cores around the country. We also offer training on several of our service equipment, which will allow investigaotrs the option of having their own staff operate the equipment independently of UAPC personnel at a greatly reduced rate.
