Plethysmography

* Available Early March *

Whole body plethysmography (WBP) is a non-invasive measure of ventilatory parameters in conscious, unrestrained mice. WBP measures box flow within the chamber to derive respiratory parameters. Commonly assessed parameters include:

  • Breathing rate
  • Tidal volume
  • Minute volume
  • Inspiration time
  • Expiration time
  • Peak inspiratory flow
  • Peak expiratory flow
  • Respiratory pause time

Common uses of plethysmography include:

  • Airway hyper-reactivity models
  • Hypoxic and hypercapnic ventilatory responses
  • Late phase response studies
  • Drug screening
  • Toxicology
